This detached 1940s rendered house, originally built on the site of
houses lost to WW11 bomb damage, had previously been given a 1970’s makeover. Our task
was to bring it up to date, with a small extension and extensive refurbishment and renewal.
Structural alterations enabled an opening up of the main living spaces, an
d direct link to the kitchen, with folding doors to the garden.
The main features are…original parquet flooring retained, solar thermal and PV generation installed on south facing roof. Cavity fill insulation installed, and the whole house over-clad with external wall insulation, with self-coloured render finish. The roof was insulated, and high performance triple glazed windows installed in line with new insulation. Client’s own selection of vintage light fittings. together with wood burning stove for winter months, efficient heating, and services the comfort levels and energy performance of the house has been considerably improved.
