client: Albemarle primary School & L B Wandsworth
Albemarle School Family Learning Centre was a joint LA and school project to provide facilities for both community and school use. ATA were asked to tackle a scheme (designed by others) that had been tendered and had come in significantly over budget. ATA brought the family learning centre within budget and quality requirements, through careful negotiation with School and Contractor.
The remodeled design was developed in close consultation with the school team, retaining all facilities, and improving details. Local Community consultation held within the school, was also part of the programme, and local people were leafleted to obtain their views and to inform them of proposed work and timetable.
Sustainability issues were targeted through the specification, and 25% over Building Regs energy improvement was achieved.
ATA were appointed as Employers Agent for the management of the contract, which resulted in an excellent building, built on budget and to programme, and a satisfied client. Programme, working on an occupied site issues as well as general H&S matters were monitored closely during the construction works and problems arising dealt with speedily.
